A High Court bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury issued this directive on Sunday (March 9) during a hearing on the matter. The same bench had earlier ordered the removal of all images of the rape survivor from social media platforms, which was reinforced after reviewing media reports presented before the court.

Case Timeline:

  • The eight-year-old victim was raped on Thursday night (March 6) while visiting her sister's house in Magura town

  • Initially admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital the following day

  • Transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated

  • Placed on life support on Friday (March 7)

  • Subsequently moved to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Saturday where she continues treatment

Legal Proceedings:
The victim's mother has filed a case naming four accused:

  1. The sister's husband

  2. The sister's father-in-law (primary rape accused)

  3. The sister's mother-in-law

  4. The sister's brother-in-law

All accused were already in police custody. The First Information Report (FIR) alleges that the sister's father-in-law committed the rape with his son's assistance, while the mother-in-law and brother-in-law knew abo ut the incident and attempted to cover it up by trying to kill the child.

Official Response:
Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited CMH on Sunday morning to check on the victim's condition. He directed hospital authorities to ensure the highest standard of medical care.

The Adviser stated: "We will ensure proper trial and maximum punishment for those involved in recent rape cases. The Home Ministry remains vigilant to prevent the accused from being released under any circumstances."

Regarding the Magura incident, he confirmed that Magura Sadar Police Station has registered a case against four individuals for the rape and attempted murder of the eight-year-old, with all named accused already arrested. The Home Ministry remains actively engaged to ensure the perpetrators face full legal consequences.
